Origins of Drives

Drives are the fundamental motivations that influence our behaviours. They originate from both innate predispositions and early life experiences. Each colour-coded drive reflects certain underlying needs and preferences. For example, Purple stems from a need for security and belonging; Silver arises from a desire for knowledge and structure; Green emerges from a longing for harmony and collaboration; Red arises from ambition and goal orientation; Yellow reflects curiosity and adventure; Blue represents order and quality; and Orange stems from a drive for connection and enjoyment. These drives develop early in life and continue to shape our decisions, interactions and energy patterns. Understanding their origins helps consultants appreciate that drives are not arbitrary labels but rooted aspects of personality.
